 Lifeguarding and rescue qualifications aren’t one-size-fits-all. Some courses are designed to qualify you as a lifeguard, while others are built for teachers and coaches who supervise lessons in deeper water.

## National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)

 The **National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)** equips swimming teachers and coaches with the skills required to safely supervise swimming lessons and respond confidently to poolside emergencies.

 We offer two options: a **two-day full course** for new candidates, and a **one-day renewal** for those already holding a valid NRASTC. Both cover lifesaving skills, first aid, and effective class management in a real teaching environment.

## National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

 The **National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)** is the UK's industry-standard lifeguard qualification, awarded by **RLSS UK** and recognised across swimming pools and leisure facilities nationwide. Swim Design Space delivers NPLQ training and assessments in **Cheltenham and Gloucester**.

 Choose the **five-day full course** to qualify for the first time, or the **one-day renewal** if your NPLQ is still in date. Both cover pool rescue, casualty management, CPR, first aid, and lifeguarding theory, and are assessed by an independent RLSS UK assessor.

Booking information

## Cancellations, Transfers and Refunds

When you book a course with Swim Design Space, a place is reserved specifically for you.

All cancellations must be made in writing by email. Cancellation periods are calculated from the date we receive your written notice.

### More than 30 days before the course start date

You may transfer your booking to another available Swim Design Space course, receive course credit valid for 12 months, or request a refund of the course fee paid.

### 14–30 days before the course start date

50% of the full course fee remains payable.

If you have already paid in full, the remaining 50% may be held as credit towards another Swim Design Space course taking place within 12 months.

No cash refund will be provided during this period.

### Less than 14 days before the course start date

The full course fee is payable. No refund, credit or transfer will be provided.

### Non-attendance and incomplete courses

No refund or transfer will be provided where a candidate does not attend, arrives too late to participate in required training or assessment, leaves before completing the required training, does not attend all required course dates, or does not meet the published course prerequisites.

Candidates are responsible for checking that they meet the course entry requirements before booking.

### Exceptional circumstances

We recognise that serious and unexpected circumstances can arise. Swim Design Space may, at its discretion, consider transferring a candidate to a future course or issuing course credit.

Any such arrangement will be considered individually and does not create an automatic entitlement to a refund, transfer or credit. Supporting evidence may be requested.

### Transfers and course credit

Any transfer or credit offered is subject to availability and must be used within 12 months of the original course start date.

Course credit is non-refundable, has no cash value and cannot be transferred to another person unless agreed by Swim Design Space.

A booking may normally be transferred only once.

### Courses cancelled by Swim Design Space

All courses are subject to minimum candidate numbers.

If Swim Design Space needs to cancel or reschedule a course, we will give as much notice as reasonably possible and offer candidates a transfer to an alternative date.

Where we cancel a course and an appropriate alternative cannot be provided, candidates will be entitled to a refund of the course fee paid.

Swim Design Space cannot accept responsibility for additional costs incurred by candidates, including travel, accommodation, childcare or loss of earnings.

## Assessment, Reassessment and Certification

Completion of a course does not guarantee that a candidate will successfully achieve the qualification. Candidates must meet the required standard set by the relevant awarding organisation.

Where a candidate is unsuccessful in any part of an assessment, additional training and/or reassessment may be required.

Reassessment is not included in the original course fee unless specifically stated otherwise. Any additional training, venue, assessor, registration or reassessment fees will be payable by the candidate before the reassessment takes place.

The amount charged will depend on the additional training and/or assessment required. Candidates will be advised of the applicable fee before a reassessment is booked.

Any reassessment must take place within the timescales and in accordance with the requirements of the relevant awarding organisation. Where those timescales are exceeded, further training or completion of a new course may be required.

Certificates will only be issued once the candidate has successfully completed all required elements of the qualification and all outstanding fees have been paid.
